"Miracle on Lappans Road"

"The curse of the Lord is in the House
of the wicked; but he blesseth the habitation of the just"

Church Walk from McKinley Center after Storm.

On the evening of June 15th 2004 a violent storm struck the west end of Lappans Road, moved east  knocking down trees on the northside of the road  crossed over and to the south side heading through, two yards, taking trees in it's path,  before wrecking havoc throughout St. Mark's seven acre campus.  Trees fell on the sexton's house, others on the Parish House , causing damage to both roofs. The tree that fell on the Parish House penetrated the flat roof over the "long room" (the former bowling alley), now used by the Growing Tree Pre-School, causing major damage to the roof and severe water damage.

The storm continued on it's path bringing down a large pine which clipped the corner of the roof of the  Office Center, (former Rectory), it then headed for the graveyard and the Church.     But the Lord " blesseth the habitation of the just" and despite bringing down five or six old and exceedingly LARGE trees none hit the church, which remained untouched in the raging tempest.!!!

All the photographs,( except two of the Parish House), of the aftermath were taken by Lee Auchincloss, Parish Administrator. The  exterior and  interior shots were kindly provided by Bruce Wibberley, Junior Warden.
